Coral Bleaching

Temperature Rising

Coral bleaching is when the coral reef then loses their bright colours and turn white. This vibrant colour is because of algae called zooxanthellae. The bleaching of the coral is caused from stress and is a result from climate change.

HAPPENING

The coral reefs are stressed from high temperature change and the algae can no longer grow. Coral harbors such a diverse unique ecosystem within and a whole ecosystem could be wiped out by a matter of 2 degrees Fahrenheit water temperature change.

Our oceans retain a large amount of greenhouse gasses which is main cause of temperature rising in oceans. One way to decrease the amount of greenhouse gasses is to not keep your car running and to try to use other transportation such as bus, bike, or walk places.
